Is someone going to be feeding them while you're gone? If so, why not just leave them instructions? I would imagine they could supervise the meals.

Dry food is more of a problem for fat cats than wet, although I don't think it's going to make things horribly worse if that's all he's eating for a short period of time. But I guess I just don't understand why you think you need to switch to dry only while you're gone.

yes you can feed them dry food, just make sure that there is enough to last till you get back, and they have enough litter... Maybe you could have some one come in and check on them every once in a while, and then they can feed them, play with them, and clean their kitty litter. If you cant, just leave a radio on low volume so that they think that someone is there with them, and maybe when you get back they wont be as mad at you.
Hope I helped. :)

Sure, they can be fed dry food only - lots of cats only eat dry food every day. Your cats may be upset that they're not getting the canned food while you're away, but they'll be okay. :o)
