How many times a day are you suppose to feed a cat?

Halliey G asked:
I’ve learned that if you just leave the cat’s food there for him to eat they can get really fat. So am i just suppose to give my 1 cat a bowl a day or do I give him some food for an hour or so a day?
How much would you say you feed them per serving? like a hand full or so?

complete cat training
I feed my cats 3 times a day. They only get a small amount per feeding. Dry food morning and evening and canned food for lunch.
The daily feeding amount will be on the back of the food’s packaging. If you feed twice a day feed half that amount at each serving.

cat training tip
We give ours a meal of dry in the morning (about 1/2 cup at the most. And a meal of canned at night.
With kittens 2-5 months you can give an extra canned meal.

cat training biting
For 8-10 pound cats they need about 6 ounces of wet food a day or 1 cup of dry (wet feeding is better for them). I feed mine 3 ounces in the morning and 3 ounces in the evening. Kittens will need a bit more food since they are still growing. Here’s a good article on feeding cats you should read.

train your cat to sit
it really depends on the quality of the food – better quality means they eat less…
read this link to determine your cat food quality
better quality also means less poop
I leave my cats dry food out all the time – canned food they should only get 1 teaspoon per serving – and 1-3 servings per day depeding on age.
