How much does your “fat cat” weigh?

My cat, Dewey, weighs about 19lbs now. He used to weight 23.5lbs. He is on a serious diet. He is very short with short legs and a short body but is very sturdy.

I’m just curious how he stacks up against other “fat cats.”
I wanted to add I have two more cats that aren’t even close to chubby. One is about 8lbs and the other is about 10lbs. Dewey on the other hand is…uh…obese. By the way, if you’re wondering (and you’re probably not) he’s named after the Malcolm in the Middle character.
More details…Dewey is an orange and white cat. Nothing special. His siblings were all tabby cats–he was the only one with any orange. I wonder if he was the product of a litter with two fathers as his dad was a big orange barn cat.

Uh. Yeah. And he is only 4.5 years old.

That’s nothign. I used to work for an Animal Protective League, I used to work with lots of cats and we used to have one that weighed 39 pounds. He got adopted and they told us that they put him in a diet and he was loosing weight.

I got you beat! Nothing to be proud of, though. Poppy weighs in at 25 pounds. She’s a Maine Coon type, so I like to say that part of that is genetic, and part of it is that she’s big-boned. The rest is my fault, because I assumed she’d be self-regulated like my last cat. NOT!

No worries, though. I know it’s bad. Unfortunately, I didn’t get good diet advice, but last week I boned up on nutrition, and I now have her on 5.5-6 oz of good canned food per day, so I’m hoping to see some results soon.

19 pound orange Tabby named Hunter, and he does…. hunt….
my sister is a vet and thinks he is quite a bit overweight- brings us diet food for him every Xmas.
Says he has an eating disorder from being so thin when we rescued him- he is afraid we will stop feeding him so he gorges.
He is extremely active- very fast and agile- runs up and down stairs all day- slides across the wood floors like Tom Cruise in Risky Business. Funny Frisky Fat Feline.

i have a bob cat(yes a real bobcat) and at her last vet appt. she weighed in at 78 lbs. she was found in Maine an hand raised since she was 3 weeks old and sad had to be de clawed and de fanged but she has no aggregation issues and is now 14 years old(i have taken care of her for 13 years) she has a barn that my wife and i have turned in to a play room for her and we have a 30 acre area for her to run, she how ever does love to sleep (between me and my wife) about 4-5 times a week. visitors often get very startled by her but quickly fall in love with her when she rubs up against them and i only know of her “roaring”3 times and yes you take notice when she does that.

my 9 year old weighs 14 pounds
my 6 year old weighs 12 pounds
my 2 year old weighs 10.5 pounds.

I used to live with a 17 year old persian who weighed in at 45 – yes, 45, NOT 4.5! He was huge. You could put both thumbs side by side on his ‘nose break’ and still have cat fur showing before the eyes! (he died in 1989 and I still miss him.)
