What is the name of the cartoon with the purple cat?

There was a cartoon tv show (in the US) when I was a kid that I cannot remember the name of. It was basically the story of a purple cat who was in love with this fat pink cat (funny I know). This pink cat was huge, looked like a round ball. Everytime this purple cat came to visit her, he was attacked by her pet dog which happened to look like a shark.
