Brands such as Newman's Own, Nutro, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul and Natural Balance are on the higher end of the cat food scale without being ultra expensive. If you have a CostCo in your area, I believe they have a store-brand ultra-premium food available.

Feeding raw diets can be ultra cheap if you have the right sources. It's satisfying and extremely healthy for your cats, but it can be less convenient for you, since raw meat spoils very easily.

Feeding dry is cheaper than feeding wet, but if you're going to feed dry, you absolutely must make sure your cats get enough water, especially if they're male cats.

It won't be nearly as cheap as feeding a grocery store-brand food, but you'll likely save hundreds in vet bills. I've included links to some companies so you may analyze the ingredients of the foods I suggested.

Good luck getting your cats back to the picture of health! :)

cheap foods are more fattening... because they use more filler and more FAT - the pet has to eat more to get any nutrition because its mostly filler - so they also eat more fat
the foods use FAT to trick you into thinking your cat is on good food.. because its coat is shiney.. but the food is crap

ALL foods from grocery store and Wal Mart are CRAP

read this link

in the long run better food SAVES you money because the cat doesnt need to eat as much
next time say what country you are in..so people can tell you a good food most people will be wrong (eg Science Diet, Iams etc are all NASTY FOODS)
read the link it will help you LOTS
